A successful 2025 Kiva Classic

The annual Kiva Classic concluded Sunday morning (Dec. 7, 2025), leaving more than 150 entrants, guests and volunteers blissfully exhausted after three-and-a-half days of top-flight squash.

The Santa Fe tournament started with a welcoming cocktail reception on Wednesday (Dec. 3) at the home of Lisa and David Barker, followed by a Friday-night, sit-down dinner at the Gerald Peters Contemporary Gallery, along with a Friday afternoon foothills hike led by Doug Campbell.

At the Friday dinner, the Kiva’s Dave Matthews was named the Charlie Perkins Sportsmanship Award winner. Dave holds the record for playing in more Kiva Classics than anyone — 30-plus —  including the first in 1991. He has always been “humble in victory, and gracious in defeat.”

About three dozen Kiva club members helped make the tournament possible, contributing time, material or sponsorship, including Lisa & David Barker, Bruce Bernstein, Bob Borden, Walter Burke, Doug Campbell, John Caskey, Jamie Clements, Glenn Conroy, David Dodge, Ryan Dodge, Tim Farrell, Sean Gallagher, Jesse Giron, C.T.
