The Kiva Classic Invitational will be held at the Kiva Club, 345 1/2 East Alameda, Santa Fe, New Mexico 87501, from Dec. 3 to Dec. 6. We’ll start accepting entries in mid September.
The tournament is an amateur doubles, softball singles and hardball singles tournament. The amateur draw is open to singles and doubles players in the age categories below.
Draws
- Softball singles: Open, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+
- Hardball singles: Open, 60+, 70+
- Doubles: Open, 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+
While male and female amateurs are both welcome to enter, there are no separate draws for men and women. The tournament is gender-neutral and everyone plays in the same age categories.
Format
Play begins early on Thursday morning, Dec. 3, and concludes in the early afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 6.
Because of limited court space, entries are limited on a first-come, first-served basis.
All draws have consolation brackets, so entrants are guaranteed at least two matches in each draw they enter.
To enter one doubles draw you need to be at the Red Chile sponsor level or higher. To enter two doubles draws you need to be at the Green Chile sponsor level or higher.
All doubles players need to be ready to play Thursday morning as early as 7 a.m., and to play back-to-back matches.
Entry fees
The entry fees may seem expensive, but entrants get a whole lot in return. The tournament provides dinners and drinks Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, along with a cocktail party on Wednesday night. It also provide light breakfasts, full lunches and snacks and drinks throughout the tournament. The Wednesday cocktail party is at the home of a Kiva members. A Friday night sit-down dinner is at the Gerald Peters Gallery (a few blocks from the Kiva Club). The Thursday buffet dinner is at the club, where you can watch prime-time squash during the evening.
- $300 junior entry. If you are 39 or younger you can enter as a junior and play in the Open draws. Includes all social events for you and a guest, and a shirt.
- $400 singles only. Includes all social events for you and a guest, and a shirt. You can enter up to two hardball and two softball singles draws.
- $500 one doubles draw, Red Chile Sponsor. Includes social events for you and a guest, a shirt and recognition. You can enter up to two hardball and two softball singles draws and one doubles draw.
- $700 two doubles draws, Green Chile Sponsor. Includes Red Chile benefits plus an additional gift. You can play in two hardball and two softball singles draws and in two doubles draws.
- $250 social only. If you cannot play this year but want to support the Kiva Classic and attend the social events.
- $250 extra guests. If you are bringing additional guests who want to attend the social events. One guest is included in the entry fee.
